what are the digestive accessory organs
teeth, tongue, salivary glands, liver, gall
bladder and pancreas.
boundaries of oral cavity:
anterior=lips
posterior=oropharyngeal isthmus
superiorly=palate
inferior=tongue/muscular diaphragm
laterally=cheeks
two parts of oral cavity
vestibule (space btw lips and dental arches) and oral cavity proper
what muscle forms corelips
orbicularis oris
how do lips connect to gum
frenulum. mucosal fold
where is uvula
soft palate

- palatoglossal arch
- palatopharyngeal arch
palatine tonsil is located in tonsilar fossa btw these arches
three parts of teeth
- crown: visible
- root: within alveolar process of mandible/maxilla. attached to bony socket via peridontal ligament
- neck: contains crown/root
how are teeth classified
based on shape of crown.n. There are two
incisors, one canine, two premolars, and three molars in each half of the
upper and lower jaws
what is core of tooth made of
dentine covered by enamel in the crown, and cement in the root
pulp cavity
contains tooth nerves, blood vessels, lymphatic vessels. in the dentine
root canal
extntion pulp cavity into roots
what supplies the teeth of
the upper jaw, adjacent gingiva, and palates.
