Lecture 2.1 Intro to Physiology & BP Flashcards
1
Q
What is angina?
A
Heart cramp due to ischaemia, feeling of crushing, associated with nausea and sweating
2
Q
What is central cyanosis and how do you know if it isn’t present?
A
Blueness - due to lack of oxygen - if there is any pink present then this isn’t occurring (shows that there is oxygen flow)
3
Q
What is the normal BP?
A
120/80
4
Q
Why does atrial contraction occur?
A
Pump remaining blood into ventricle
5
Q
Why do murmurs happen and who are they often present in?
A
Turbulence of blood - caused by speed, often seen in young people - overactive CVS
6
Q
What happens to a murmur during expiration?
A
Increases - increased intrathoracic pressure, squeeze blood into left heart
