Organizational Commitment Definition
The level of dedication employees have with their employers, which increases productivity, engagement, commitment, and moral
Commitment vs Engaged
He committed employee may not be engaged, and engaged employee may not be committed
Mayer & Allen’s 3 component model (types of Organizational Commitment)
Affective Commitment -affection for organization
Continuance commitment-fear of loss
Normative commitment - sense of obligation to stay
Trends that Affect Commitment
-Increasing diversity (eg less attachment of foreign-born workers to their community)
-Won’t necessarily have long-term workplace
-economic uncertainties
-psychological contracts
Influencers of Organizational Commitment
1) job satisfaction

5) job insecurity, and employability
Withdrawal Behaviour: Primary responses that triggered employee withdrawal behaviour
Exit: destructive response
Voice: attempt to improve situation
Loyalty: bear it
Neglect: allowing performance to deteriorate
