Q

What does cordyceps fungi do to ant

A

ectoparasitic
Will modify ant brain to make it move more north and to higher ground (~25cm) to give optimal conditions for fungal growth

Q

What is relationship between springtails and fungi

A

Laccaria fungi kill springtails for its Nitrogen
But some springtails can also graze off the fungi
Not muualism btw, two separate parasitic systems

Q

What happens when plants attacked by aphids

A

produce VOCs
Which repel aphid
But also attract aphid predators to come munch on them

Q

How can plants communicate and give example

A

via fungal networks, cud they can be shared between plants,
E.g. If an attacked plant releases VOCs, then via the fungi, the nearby unattacked plant also starts releasing it as a precautionary measure
