granulomatous inflammation (diffuse) eg. fungi
subacute septicemia 
haemopietic cells e.g chronic anaemia 
neoplasia (diffuse)
-storage of material
amyloidosis, storage diseases

-haematomas; induced by vascular neoplasm
-vascular neoplasms; haemagioma
-incompletely contract areas; post circulatory shock, fight or flight repose DIC
-acute splenic infarction;
actue vascular occlusions (thrombosis) leading to necrosis
sub-capsular areas due to poor perfusion

• nodular hyperplasia; common in older dogs
• neoplasms; primary or secondary (metastatic)
• granulomas (bacterial or viral)
• abscesses; can develop after septicaemia
