Lecture 13: Planning and Delivering Community Based PA Programs Flashcards
What is the RE-AIM framework? What does it stand for?
- A framework for program planning and evaluation.
- Assesses different elements integral for high quality programming.
R = Reach
- Recruiting, marketing, attracting.
- Who is the target cohort?
E = Effectiveness
- Anticipated outcomes and impacts.
A = Adoption
- How do you get people to buy into the programming various settings and sites? Who’s willing to offer the program?
I = Implementation
- Fidelity/consistency of deliverance and cost.
- What are things that run out and how do we make those consistent?
M = maintenance.
- Program becomes part of ones organization and everyday plan.
What are the different aspects needed to be looked at when considering REACH?
- Need to look at the representativeness (characteristics that are similar to participants who are eligible, but choose not to participate).
- % of people you believe you can recruit, how many of that % you recruit = your program’s success.
- Need to know the target population you’re looking for and find ways to become credible with them.
- Understand your markets needs and preferences.
- Cost effective recruitment plan (ads, presentations, taster sessions).
- Look at barriers within your population.
- Consider funding opportunities (grants, partnerships, private PA coalitions).
What are the different aspects needed to be looked at when considering EFFECTIVENESS?
Impacts of Programming:
- Health status
- Physical, cognitive, psychosocial functions.
- Belonging and sense of community.
Do anticipated impacts depend on:
- Modalities?
- Nature of activity?
- Degree of investment (how much needs to be done for benefits to show)?
What are the different aspects needed to be looked at when considering ADOPTION?
Organizational support in your area that allows you to implement your program.
- Have a list of potential partner sites. What’s the appropriate setting?
- Assess the readiness of the local community organization. Do they have funding, personnel?
- Develop organizational support (build trust with the organization, ensure they understand the advantages, develop cost options)
What are the different aspects needed to be looked at when considering IMPLEMENTATION?
Determine whether the delivery of the program is faithful to the core elements that were planned.
- Determine which aspects are crucial.
- Have quality training for instructors and leaders so that can deliver the program.
- Pay attention to funds (what do you charge, where are you getting funds, different payment options).
What are the different aspects needed to be looked at when considering MAINTENANCE?
- Is the program integrated into routines of participants, and organizational practices/policies?
- Look at the needs of participants, recognize new barriers, stay engaged with the participants.
- Keep interest of partnering organizations.
