2
Q

What occurs during prophase.

A
  • chromosomes become visible
  • cytoskeleton disassembles as the spindle begins to form
  • centrioles migrate to opposite sides of poles
  • bridge of microtubules is formed called the spindle apparatus

3
Q

What occurs during prometaphase.

A
  • kinetochores attach to the centromere of the chromosomes

Q

What occurs during metaphase.

A
  • all chromosomes ae aligned at the metaphase plate

Q

What occurs during anaphase.

A
  • centromeres are degraded that hold chromatids together

- chromosomes are pulled by their kinetochores to opposite poles

6
Q

What occurs at telophase & cytokinesis.

A
  • cleavage burrow forms
  • chromosomes cluster at opposite poles and condense as the nuclear envelope reforms
  • spindle apparatus disassembles
cytokinesis - completely separates daughter cell
