Lecture 13 Flashcards

1
Q

Deltoid Muscle

A

Attaches to the pectoral girdle and distally to the humorous

  • the anterior part attaches to the clavicle (flexion)
  • the posterior part attaches to the spine (extension)
  • the middle (most lateral part) attaches to the acrimonion ( abduction)
  • posterior and anterior part of scapula

long muscles fibers increases ROM
- the middle part is a multipennate so it has more CSA and more muscle fibres so more tension

Q

Biceps Brachii

A

Under the deltoid muscle

  • long and short head attaches to the scapula
  • goes to cross the anterior part of the elbow (flexion)
  • attaches to the radius (radiar tuberosity) at the radioulnar joint (can supinate)

Q

Triceps Brachii

A

three heads (good for tension)

  • the long head attaches to the scapula
  • the middle attaches to the distal part of the humorous
  • lateral attaches to the proximal part of the humorous
  • attaches to oleocranon of ulna provides extension

Q

Illiposoas

A

The proximal part is at first two separate muscles

  • the Psoas major attaches to the vertebrae (T12-L5)
  • the lliacus attaches to the anterior surface of the pelvis
  • then fuses to attach to the femur

provides hip flexion

Q

Gluteus Maximus

A

Crosses the posterior of the hip (extension)

  • attaches to the sacrum/pelvis
  • attaches to the iliotibial band (tendon) and femur

Q

Hamstrings

A

three muscles involved with this

  • on the hip of the posterior side, (extension)
  • on the knee posterior side (flexion and rotation when flexed)

3 muscles
Biceps femoris
- attaches to pelvis and femur (prox)
- distally to the head of the fibula laterally

Semi-membranous
- attaches to the pelvis to then to the medial side of the head of tibia

Semi-tendinous
- attaches to the pelvis to then the medial side of the proximal tibia diaphysis
when rotating, the medial part will contract the semis and the lateral will contract the biceps femoris

Q

Quad Femoris

A

Rectus femoris (pennate)
> attaches to the pelvic to the patella
(vasti muscles)

Lateralis vastus
> attaches to the lateral side of the femur to the tibia via the patella tendon

Intermedius vastus
> attaches to the middle of the femur to the tibia via the patella tendon

Medialis
> attaches to the medial of the femur to the tibia via the patella tendon

Does knee extension

Q

Tibialis Anterior

A

Attaches to the tibia tuberosity
> lines to the tibia anterior and attaches distally to the medial tarsal (ankle joint) long and thin at the end
> provides dorsiflexion

Q

Triceps Surae

A

Gastrocnemius
> most superficial
> first separate into medial and lateral parts attached to the distal heads of the femur and then fuse at the belly to attach to the calcaneus (tarsal) via tendon

Soleus
> attaches to the Fibula mostly and tibia proximal part and then attaches to the calcaneus (tarsal) via tendon

Does plantar flexion
