A

Medicines and superfoods.
Medicines- claims about treatment or cure of diseases are not allowed of foods.
Superfoods- no way of testing whether or not a food is super or not.

A

Be true, not misleading. Could allow claims that include disease prevention or treatment. Adequacy of substantiation of claims evaluated by experts.

FDA role in Claims.

A

They authorize a health claim. To approve, a change in dietary intake of substance will result in change in disease endpoint. A number of qualified health claims have been approved. None for probiotics.
