Number of samples taken in a second
1000 sample per second = 1KHz (1000Hz)
What is the Nyquist Limit?
Taking two or more samples per wave
What type of compression do Codecs use?
Lossy
What file formats are uncompressed?
.wav
.aiff
What is MIDI music?
Musical Instrument Digital Interface, classified as synthesized sound
Downloadable Audio
Once downloaded, can be edited etc and does not need a special streaming web server to post the file
Takes a long time to download (especially for big files) and takes up disk space on the computer to store it
Streamed Audio
Plays immediately and only consumes RAM when being played
Can’t rewind or pause and needs a special server to post it

Voice Only
AM Quality
FM Quality
CD
Voice Only = 8KHz
AM Quality = 11.025 KHz
FM Quality = 22 KHz
CD = 44.2 KHz
