What are the sections of the vertibral column (5) and how many vertebrae are in each section?
Cervical vertebrae (C1-C7), Thoracic vertebrae (T1-T12), Lumbar vertebrae (L1-L5), Sacrum, coccyx
How many ribs do we have, what are the sections (3) and how many ribs in each section?
12 ribs, 1-7 = true ribs, 8-10 = false ribs, 11&12 = floating ribs
What is a tubercle?
a rough, bumpy projection on bone which acts as an attachment site for muscles and ligaments
What is the thoracic spine?
Part os spine containing thoracic vertebrae (T1-T12) - 12 ribs articluate with the 12 thoracic vertebraes
Where do the ribs articulate with the thoracic spine?
In the costal facets
How to the ribs articulate with the sternum?
Via the costal cartilage
Where does the head of the rib articluate on on the thoracic vertebrae?
The body of vertebrae
Where does the tubercle of the rib articluate on on the thoracic vertebrae?
The transverse process
