Lec slide 6 Flashcards
Interoceptors
transduce (to convert smtg into another form) info from within body.
- transfer to electrical, hormonal, or other non-neural signals
Exteroceptors
transduce info from environment
Proprioceptors. What do and what are they called.
info about configuration of body segments (where you are in space e.g. joint angles)
- Muscle spindles
- GTO’s
do receptors respond to chemical or mechanical stimuli?
one, the other, or both
spatial summation vs temporal summation.
Spatial - multiple presynaptic neurons have EPSP’s, or IPSP’s that converge at the same neuron causing action potential.
Temporal - one presynaptic neuron firing signals to a postsynaptic neuron and the rate matters.
does the same synaptic input to a smaller motor neuron create a larger or smaller graded potential
larger, smaller are more easily influenced/have lower threshold
