Test: standard scents

Test: visual acuity, field, exam retina/optic disc
3 - what is it, what are the 2 nuclei
Oculomotor
Oculomotor Nucleus: 5 extraoc musc
Edinger-Wesphal Nucleus: para control of Sphincter Pupillary (pupil constrict/dilate) & Ciliary (lens accom)
3 - testing
Observe symptoms of damage: eye droops down/out, 2x vision, loss of lens accom.

Trochlear (superior oblique).
Test: eye drifts up, may comp by tilting head to contra side to reduce 2x vision.

Abducens (lateral rectus).
Test: eye drifts inward (cross-eyed)

Trigeminal: sensory info from facial.
Test: sensation
5 - motor functions & testing
Trigeminal: musc of mastication.
Test: palp jaw.
5 - parasympathetic functions & testing
Trigeminal: corneal reflex.
Test: cotton swab or compressed air to cornea = blink (also tests CN 7).
7 - sensory functions & testing
Facial: taste from anterior 2/3.
Test: admin common tastes to tip of tongue.
7 - motor function & testing
Facial: musc of facial expression.
Test: symmetry of facial musc.
7 - parasympathetic functions
salivary & lacrimal
Facial Nerve Palsy
unilateral facial paralysis
if sensory portion fucked = loss of taste, salivation, lacrimation.

Vestibulocochlear
Test cochlear: finger snap, Weber test.
Test vestib: Carloric test.

Glossopharyngeal: taste to post 1/3, sensation to pharynx/carotid body/sinus.
Para: parotid gland.
Test: tongue depressor (gag reflex).
