Q

Nmda receptor is gated by 2 things

A

1- glutamate has to bind to it for it to open
2- in order for the current to flow in, the membrane potential has to be a certain amount

Q

Where does memory consolidation takes place?

A

In the hippocampus. Not the location of short term or long term memory, involed in the conversion. You still have short term and long term memory if damage to hippocampus

Q

Injecting anastbesic in the hippocampus (like if no hippocampus)

A

Rodent after 30 days, can remember how to do the maze (after 30 days, dont need the hippocampus anymore, the cortex knows how to do it)

In humans, memories take years to become hippocampal independent
