Leadership style that involves making managerial decisions without consulting others
Autocratic
Allowing employees to have a say in the decision making process. Managers retain ultimate control.
Democratic
Leaders are hands off and allow employees to make decisions.
Laissez-faire
Is the closest to one that would make the business function and feel like a family unit. The manager is the head of the unit, making decisions for the good of the business and employees.
Paternalistic
This leadership style focuses on maintaining the status quo. This leader will simply follow the organisations process and systems by dictating and assigning tasks to their team of employees.
Transactional
This leader is focused on and prioritises the needs of their team over their own personal needs.
Transformational
These leaders have high levels of self belief and are often visionaries who utilise their charm, personality and excellent communication skills to influence the behaviours, performance and commitment of employees.
Charismatic
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound
SMART targets
A manager who is willing to lead by example and role model the expectations has a much greater chance of inspiring their team.
Lead by Example
Identifying the problem, collect data/information, compare the solutions, analyse the impact of each decision, make a justified choice, take action & review your decision.
