What caused the September Massacres?
The Prussian win at Verdun that same month and the reaction against non-juring priests.

Showed violence of radicals, showed the need for new Constitution and angered girondins.

Each deputy had to declare his vote out loud, leading to more votes due to pressure put on by the S-Cs and Federes.
