Q

what are Heifetz’s six principles in meeting adaptive challenges

A
  1. ‘Get on the balcony’ - holistic view
  2. Identify adaptive change - identify need+determine extent of change (organisational structure, working practices+values)
  3. regulate distress - ensure motivation without overwhelming individuals. must tolerant frustration to communicate confidence
  4. maintain disciplined attention - confront difficult issues directly rather than avoiding+be open to contrasting viewpoints
  5. give work back to employees - recognise efforts+allow contribution of solutions, retreat from trad values of bossing around
  6. protect voices of leadership from below: all voices are heard- ignoring values fatal for organisation
