A
- Emergent leaders become leader through their hard work and determination. People look up to and respect them
- Prescribed leaders are appointed by higher authority
E.g. Gareth Southgate was appointed manager of England’s football team by the Football Association in 2016

- Task oriented and dictator style

- When discipline or control is needed
- With hostile groups or if there is lack of time
- If the situation is dangerous
- Novice performers and males tend to like this style

Person-oriented and takes into account team members’ ideas and feelings, leader shows interest in others
