4 leadership styles (DASP)
1) Directive leader
-Lets subordinates know what is expected of them, schedules work to be done, gives guidance on how to accomplish tasks
2) Achievement oriented leader
- Sets challenging goals and expects followers to perform at their highest level
3) Supportive leader
- Friendly and shows concern for the needs of followers
4) Participative leader
- Consults group members and uses their suggestions before making decisions
Sources of power (RERCL)
1) Reward power
- The power a leader has to give positive rewards
2)Expert power
- Power that is based on expertise, special skills or knowledge
3) Referent power
- Power that arises because of a person’s desirable resources (money, power, connections) or personality traits
4) Coercive power
-The power a leader has to punish or control
5)Legitimate power
-The power a leader has as a result of his/her position in the organisation
