Q

What is capanna technique

A

Combination of vascularized bone flap (usually fibula) combined with non vascular bone allograft- enhances healing by providing biological support through vascularized flap and mechanical stability through bone grafting

Q

What is masquelet technique

A

Membrane inducing bone graft- spacer placed that forms membrane that can later later be bone grafted; typically for smaller bone defects

Q

Gracilis flap anatomy

A

Pedicle branch from medial femoral circumflex, pierces muscle on deep surface about 10cm from pubic tubercle, runs deep to adductor longus and superficial to adductor brevis
Type 2 flap- one dominant and multiple minor pedicles
Gracilis origin inferior pubic ramus and insertion pes anserinus of medial tibia
