Head And Neck Recon Flashcards
Mullers muscle anatomy and innervation
Origin is deep surface of levator palpebrae superioris, inserts on tarsal plate, sympathetic innervation
Levator palpebrae superioris anatomy and innervation
Origin from lesser wing of sphenoid at orbital apex, insertion at tarsal plate, innervated by oculimotor nerve(CN3)
What is a tripier flap
Bipedicled myocutaneous flap of skin and orbicularis oculi used to reconstruct defects of lower lid anterior lamella
What is a cutler beard flap
Two stage procedure used to recon large upper eyelid defects
Full thickness skin, orbicularis, conjunctiva are advanced from inferior to tarsal plate to upper eyelid defect
Cartilage graft used to reconstruct tarsal plate
What is a Hughes flap
Eyelid sharing procedure, partial tarsus and conjunctiva from upper eyelid is used to recon lower lid posterior lamella (combined with skin graft or cheek advancement)
What is a mustarde flap
Cheek advancement flap used to recon anterior lamella of lower eyelid
Can be combined with Hughes flap or composite graft for posterior lamella recon if needed
What bones make up the orbit? (7)
Frontal, sphenoid, zygomatic, maxillary, ethmoid, lacrimal, palatine
How many nasal subunits are there and what are they?
9- paired: sidewalls, ala, soft triangles
Unpaired: dorsum, columella, nasal tip
Which mandible fracture has highest rate of infection
Mandibular angle
What layers are you between for gillies approach to zygomatic arch fracture
Between temporalis muscle and deep layer of deep temporal fascia
