face
of a type, a particular appearance of the letters and numbers, as roman or
italic ; thus any given fount of type will have many faces.
fair copy
a carefully copied text without blots or corrections etc.
foul papers
an author’s drafts with revisions etc., the precursor of fair copy.
fount
(in the USA, ‘font’) of type, a particular design of the letters and numbers ; each fount will comprise designs for each character in a number of faces.
imposition
in hand-press printing the process of arranging the composed type
on the bed of the press ; decisions about leading, ornaments, running-heads, etc.
are involved, and two or more pages will have to be imposed together in any
book or pamphlet format.
indentation
the setting of a line or lines in from the left margin by one or
more spaces.
justified
of text and margins, aligned straight up and down
leading
the amount of white space left between lines, stanzas, or other units of
form, and in the margins.
leaf
a single sheet of paper ; one recto, one verso
lineation
the organisation of a poem into lines
metal page
my coinage for the archetype, at a given time or in general, of
pages printed by metal type ; usually with reference to the typographical and/or
design limits of such pages.
mise-en-page
the actual layout of a given poem (or prose text) on a given
page.

recto
the front of any leaf ; in books, each right-hand page

turn-down, -up ( also turn-over, turned line)
in verse-lines that exceed the measure, that part which is set on the physical line below or above.

the back of any leaf ; in books, each left-hand page.
