Atrial fibrillation
an irregular heartbeat that occurs when the electrical signals in the top two chambers of the heart fire rapidly at the same time, often causing the heart to beat faster but in an inefficient way.
Blood pressure
Systolic - pressure when the heart pushes blood out around the body
Diastolic - the pressure when the heart rests
Heart disease
is what happens when your heart’s blood supply is blocked or interrupted by a build up of fatty substances in the blood vessels of the heart.
Heart failure
means that the heart is unable to pump blood around the body properly
hypertension
pressure of blood in the arteries. there needs to be a certain pressure to move blood around the body. however too high can lead to damage of the vessels.
peripheral artery disease
is a common condition where a build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries restricts blood supply to leg muscles
stroke or tia
happens when there’s a temporary disruption in the blood supply to part of the brain. The disruption in blood supply results in a lack of oxygen to the brain. This can cause sudden symptoms like those of a stroke. a stroke is a permanent disruption in the blood supply to the brain.
asthma
common lung conditions that causes occasional breathing difficulty
copd
when the lungs become inflamed, damaged and narrowed.
cancer
a condition where the cells in a specific part of the body grow and reproduce uncontrollably
Diabetes
condition that causes the level of sugar in the blood to become too high. increasing risk of serious problems to with the eyes, feet, heart and nerves
Dementia
An umbrella term for a range of progressive conditions that affect the brain.
Depression
is low mood that can last a long time or keep returning, affecting your everyday life
epilepsy
condition that affects the brain and causes seizures. seizures are burst of electrical activity in the brain that temporarily affect how it works.R
Rheumatoid arthritis
autoimmune disease. meaning your immune system attack the cells that line your joints by mistake, leading to joint swelling, stiffness and ain.
