Laws Flashcards
Boyle’s law
For a fixed amount of gas, the pressure of gas is inversely proportional to the pressure of the gas at a constant temperature
Charle’s law
For a fixed amount of gas, volume of gas is directly proportional to the temperature in absolute temperature scale. Provided that the pressure remains constant.
Gay Lussac’s law
For a fixed amount of gas in a rigid vessel, pressure exerted by the gas is directly proportional to its temperature
Avogadro’s law
Equal volumes of gas contain equal number of molecules at the same temperature and pressure.
Dalton’s law of partial pressure
According to this law, in a mixture of “non-reacting gases”, the total pressure is equal to the sum of partial pressure of each gas present in the mixture.
Graham’s law of Diffusion
According to this law, the rate of change of diffusion or effusion is inversely proportional to the square root of the density of the gases.
