What are the 4 action steps taken after a wrongdoing?

A
  1. Receival of a concern
    Outcomes:
    a) Close the case
    b) Pass it onto another regulator or agency
    c) Begin an investigation
  2. Start to investigate said concern
    Steps:
    a) Visiting the site, speaking to the pharmacy
    professional involved and identifying any
    witnesses
    b) Aim to complete investigations within three to
    nine months
    c) Interim orders allow for a pharmacy
    professional’s registration to be suspended
  3. Investigating committee
    Steps:
    a) Private meeting that considers written evidence
    b) Usually includes 4 people: a chair or deputy chair,
    two pharmacy professional members, a lay
    member
    Outcomes:
    a) take no action
    b) give advice to the pharmacy professional
    c) issue a warning
    d) agree ‘undertakings’
    e) practise is impaired
    f) refer to an FtPC
  4. Fitness to Practice committee
    Steps:
    a) Committee of three people: a chair, a registrant
    member, a lay member
    b) In most cases, a committee will hold a hearing in
    public.
    c) ‘Balance of probabilities’.
    d) Decision is called a determination
    Outcomes:
    a) take no action
    b) advice
    c) agree ‘undertakings’
    d) issue a warning
    e) impose conditions on practice
    f) suspend from practising
    g) remove from the register
