A

Lines of latitude are lines that run around the globe or map.

The other lines run parallel to the equator.

Each line is numbered in degrees, from 0° at the equator to 90° north at the North Pole and 90° south at the South Pole.

A

Lines of longitude are lines on a globe or map that join the North and South Poles.

The 0° line of longitude runs through a place called Greenwich, near London, England. This line of longitude is called the Greenwich meridian or Prime meridian.

All the other lines of longitude are east or west of the Greenwich meridian
