Effect of latitude on rainfall Flashcards
1
Q
What form of gas does air contain?
A
Air contains water in the form of a gas called water vapour. For the rain to fall, the water vapour needs to condense, or change back into liquid, and form clouds.
2
Q
When does this happen?
A
This happens when rising air cools. At certain latitudes, air rises; at other latitudes, air sinks down toward the Earth from high above it.
3
Q
Where is there more rain?
A
There is more rain at latitudes with rising air than at latitudes with sinking air.
