A
Half the earth, e.g. the equator divides the Earth into the northern and southern hemispheres.

The shape of the earth
A
The earth is sphere-shaped. Half of a sphere is called a hemisphere.
The equator divides the earth into two equal halves or hemispheres.
The region between the North Pole and the equator is the northern hemisphere.
The region between the South Pole and the equator is the southern hemisphere.

Arctic circle, the Tropic of Cancer, the equator, the Tropic of Capricorn and The Antarctic circle
