Q

Describe tendinitis

A
  • Tendon cell population increase- no of tenocytes inc, increased metabolism of cells and apoptosis, more immature tenocytes
  • Disorganisation of collagen- increase in collagen type 3 which is less strong (you want collagen type 1)
  • ground substance change- PG and GAG content changes, water drawn into tendon, makes it bulge. Increase amount of substance P & lactate
  • neovascularisation- influx of blood supply and nerve fibres- makes them sensitive to pain etc
