They are proprietary and non-specific.
What common expansion slots do laptops use?
Mini-PCI
What RAM slot type do laptops use?
SODIMM
What are the storage device form factors for laptops?
1.8 inch and 2.5 inch.
What are laptop CPUs designed to do?
Produce less heat.
Use CPU throttling.
What type of storage drive is common in laptops?
SSD
What are the two most common technologies used in LSD screens?
Twisted Nematic(TN) and In-Plane Switching(IPS).
TN uses high brightness, uses less power than IPS and cost less to manufacture.
IPS offers better colour representation and viewing angles, but have less contrast and slow response times.
Super IPS is now an option on the market.
What are the benefits of LED displays?
They sue less power and have longer lifespans than LCD displays. They are the display of choice for many laptops.
What are OLED screens used for?
Typically used in mobile devices and digital cameras although they can still be found in some laptops.
Their pixels produce their own light, not requiring a backlight unlike LCD and LED.
What are the two common backlighting technologies?
CCFL and LED.
What do CCFL displays require that LEDs do not?
A backlight inverter to invert the current.
Why are LCD screens a danger to the environment?
Because they contain mercury.
What must you do to replace a CCFL backlight?
You must completely disassemble the display.
Where are wi-fi antenna located? What do they attach to? Where do the wires go?
At the top of the screen.
The WLAN wireless card.
Down the sides of the screen.
What are the six states of power management?
S0 to S5.
