Q

What should you focus on writing about in Q3?

A

-look at start, middle, end, and changes throughout
-no language analysis, only structural features

Q

What are some good structural features to talk about in Q3?

A

-digressions
-foreshadowing/flashbacks
-cliffhangers
-pace and differences in paragraph/sentence length (for tension)
-focus (eg change from character to focalising on setting, changes in sound, etc)

-discourse markers to signpost any changes in the techniques above

Think of the text as a movie scene, and changes in focus is like the camera panning from place to place, and a narrow shot of someone’s face would be focalising on something small

Q

What should you focus on writing about in Q4?

A

-get evidence that is focused on the key points in the given statement

-write exactly how the evidence supports your argument
-try to agree, but be critical - the statement might be 100% for an idea, but try to find little parts that might be against it

-name language/structural techniques as you go, but no deep analysis for individual words, just analyse the effect of the technique

There will always be key points in the given statement they want you to look at in particular
