Landing Gear, Brakes, Steering Flashcards

1
Q

What does a NWS LIMIT EXCEEDED(C) CAS indicate, and what action should be taken?

A

Nosewheel has been turned beyond 120 degrees.

Check shear pins. If broken then the nose wheel has exceeded 123 degrees and possible damage has occurred.

Q

Why must we observe brake cooling times?

A

To ensure there is sufficient brake energy available to come to a complete stop within the charted distance if we reject a takeoff

12
Q

What does the “LG PULL” handle do?

A
  • Manually releases the uplocks(Nose and Main Gear)

* Actuates the dump valves(ports fluid pressure to the return side of actuator)

16
Q

How do we check the brake wear indicators?

A

With the parking brake set and the pins are not flush with the housing

17
Q

Where are the brake accumulator gauges located?

A

In the battery bay

18
Q

With a NORMAL BRAKES FAIL indication, how will we apply braking to stop the aircraft?

• Will we have anti-skid or differential braking?

A

By pulling the Emer/Parking brake smoothly.

No.

19
Q

When does the PTU operate in “AUTO” ?
(4)

A
  • Left EDP failed
  • Right EDP producing pressure.
  • Weight off wheels(WOW in air)
  • Gear not in the selected position (ie…gear is down with the handle “UP”)
20
Q

What are tire pressures?

A

• Nose : 113 PSI , Mains : 154 PSI

21
Q

What prevents the main tires from exploding in an overheat situation?

A

4 fuse sensitive plugs in each wheel assembly

22
Q

How many brake wear indicator pins are there on each brake assembly?

A

2 pins on each assembly – 1 on top and 1 underneath

23
Q

What components of the landing gear are monitored by the Proximity Sensing System?

A

Main landing gear, Nose gear, Nose gear doors.

24
Q

Brakes are armed when?

A
  1. Gear down and

A) WOW for 5 seconds

—or—

B) 50 knot wheel spin up

25
Q

Brake cooling times are found in the?

A

AFM
