Landing Gear and Brakes Flashcards
What do the gear lights in the floor provide?
An alternate means of verifying gear position.
SDM 14-7
What is the minimum landing gear strut extension?
Nose: Visible piston chrome
(contact mtx if less than 1”).
[1”-3” is normal] FSM 3.2.13
Mains: 1.5” - 4.5” FSM 3.2.15
What does the landing gear inhibit switch do?
It disables the electrical command sent to the Landing Gear solenoid valve for normal extension, when the Landing Gear select handle is moved, thus preventing normal gear extension.
(It inhibits the landing gear lever).
SDM 14-4
Is anti-skid available when using the emergency brake?
No.
SDM 14-13, E & A 11.6
What is the minimum parking brake pressure for engine start?
Starting engine #2 first, 500 psi.
Starting engine #1 first, 1000 psi.
FSM 3.3.10
If sufficient parking brake pressure is not available for engine start, what can be done?
In order of preference:
Procedure #1:
Secure nosewheel with tug, start engine # 2 first.
Procedure #2:
Manually pump the pressure, utilizing the handle from the
flightdeck, into the Park Brake Auxiliary Pump Socket in the

Procedure #3:
Chock Left Main Gear and nose gear, and start engine #2.
FSM 7.4.13
When would the gear warning tone sound?
When the landing gear is not down and locked, and:
- Flaps are greater than 8.5, with either engine torque indicating
less than 50% and both power levers positioned aft of the
RATING detent;
- Airspeed is less than 156 KIAS, with both power levers near
the FLIGHT IDLE detent (within approx. 12 of flight idle).
SDM 14-3
