Q

When does the Flap Auto Pitch Trim operate?

A

When all of the following conditions exist:
- Flaps are selected from 15* to 35, or from 35 to 15*, and
- The autopilot is not engaged, and
- The airspeed is < 200 KIAS, and
- A manual pitch trim is not commanded by either the CA or FO.

SDM 9-13

16
Q

Is the elevator mechanically operated or hydraulically powered?

A

Mechanically controlled and hydraulically powered.
(Input commands from the control columns are mechanically transferred to the hydraulic PCUs, which in turn, move the elevator surfaces).
SDM 9-2 & 9-5.

17
Q

Above what speed are the outboard spoilers deactivated?

A

> 170 KIAS.
To reduce roll sensitivity, outboard spoiler operation is deactivated at airspeeds >170 KIAS.

SDM 9-26

18
Q

Which spoilers deploy on the ground?

A

Inboard and outboard.

SDM 9-26

19
Q

How could you disable a runaway PITCH TRIM?

A

Push the Elevator Trim Shutoff Switchlight.

SDM 9-9

20
Q

A takeoff warning will sound with the Flaps greater than?

A

Greater than 20* and less than 3.5.
The takeoff warning horn will sound when both power levers are advanced for takeoff (engine torque exceeds 50%), if flaps are set greater than 20
or less than 3.5*.
SDM 9-32

21
Q

What are indications of an elevator trim runaway?

A

The Elevator Trim Shutoff switchlights illuminate, and an aural clicking sound is heard.

SDM 9-8

22
Q

What components operate off the engine accessory gear box?

A
F - FMU (Fuel Metering Unit)
O - Oil pump
D - DC Starter-Generator
P - PMA (Permanent Magnet Alternator)
                                                                                         SDM 17-3
23
Q

What components operate off of the propeller reduction gear box?

A
H - Hydraulic pump
A - AC Generator
P - Propeller Control Unit (PCU)
P - Propeller Overspeed Governor (POG)
                                                                                 SDM 17-3
24
Q

What is the function of power uptrim?

A

To automatically increase power on the operating engine by 10% when the opposite engine fails.

SDM 17-22

25
Q

Does the autofeather need to be armed for Uptrim to occur?

A

No.
This is an automatic feature of the FADEC and PEC: The working engine’s FADEC responds to a Uptrim signal from the failed engine’s Propeller Electronic Control (PEC) unit, changing the engine’s power rating from NTOP to MTOP. SDM 17-22

26
Q

What action would you take for an ENG FADEC FAIL warning light?

A

Accomplish the Engine Failure Checklist (FADEC FAIL Warning) on the front of the IAC.

FSM 2.1.15

27
Q

What are the Engine Start Abort Memory Items?

A
  • Engine ITT approaches or exceeds 920*C,
  • NH is not in the green arc within 70 seconds of selecting
Condition Lever to START AND FEATHER, or
  • Engine Oil Pressure fails to reach 44 psi by
    Start SELECT Switch reset.

If an engine start abort is required:
_____ Condition Lever . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . FUEL OFF
Start SELECT switch . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . CENTER
Call for Engine Start Abort Checklist

SDM 2.1.21

28
Q

When is it permissible to not comply with a TCAS RA?

A

Compliance with a TCAS Resolution Advisory (RA) is required, unless the pilot considers it unsafe to do so.
