On the pilot’s oxygen mask, what does selecting “emergency” do?
The regulator supplies 100% oxygen at a slightly positive pressure.
(in the 4 o’clock position)

On the pilot’s oxygen mask, what does selecting the “normal” position do?
The regulator automatically supplies an ambient air / oxygen mixture which varies with cabin altitude.

The regulator supplies 100% oxygen, regardless of cabin altitude.

How long will a PBE provide oxygen to the user?
A minimum of 15 minutes.

What systems on the aircraft have fire protection?
The engines and APU have both fire detection and extinguishing systems.
The forward and aft baggage compartments, and the lavatory have smoke detection and extinguishing systems.

What are the cockpit indications of an engine fire?
There are FIVE red fire warning lights:
- The respective engine’s T-handle on the FPP
- The Master Warning light (flashing red) on the Glareshield
- The CHECK FIRE DET warning light (flashing red) on the
Warning Light Panel
- Both ENGINE FIRE PRESS TO RESET lights (flashing red) on
the left and right sides of the glareshield
There is also an engine fire “warning tone” which is activated simultaneously with the five warning lights. It can be silenced by pressing either the left or right ENGINE FIRE PRESS TO RESET lights located on the glareshield. SDM 8-5
