Landing Gear And Brakes Flashcards
How are the landing gears controlled?
2 LGCIU’s
How is nose wheel steering and braking controlled?
Break steering control unit (BSCU)
What happens if LGCIU1 fails?
LGCIU 2 takes over
When do the LGCIU’s switch over?
On landing gear retraction
Which hydraulic system supplies, the landing gears and doors?
Green hydraulic system
Above what speed is landing gear movement prevented?
260 kts
If you see Amber X’s in half of the landing gear indications on the wheel SD page what does this indicate?
One of the LGCIU has failed. As long as green is indicated in the second half the landing gear is down and locked.
What if half of the landing gear indicators are red?
The respective LGCIU cannot detect the proximity switch indication. The second half can be used to confirm landing your position.
What is Vlo?
250 kts
What is the max altitude to extend the landing gear?
FL 250
Vle
280 kts (M0.67)
Vret
220 kts
Can the gravity gear extension crank be reset?
No
How many turns of the hand crank is required to gravity extend the gear?
3
What happens at each turn of the hand crank for the gravity extension
- Closest hydraulic cut off valve which removes pressure from the system
- Releases the dear and door locks and allows the doors to full open
- Releases the gear up locks and the landing gear extends into place
How is the nose wheel steering powered?(hydraulic system)
Green hydraulic system
What is the max angle the nose wheel can be steered to using the hand wheel?
75°
Up to what speed is full nose wheel steering angle available?
20 kts
At what speed is the nose wheel steering angle limited to 0 kts?
80 kts
If both hand wheels are used at the same time, what happens?
Both orders are added up to a sum and sent to the BSCU
Using the rudder pedals up to what angle can the nose wheel be steered to? Up to what speed?
6° up to 40 kts
At what speed is the rudder pedal authority at 0 kts for nose wheel steering?
130 kts
Is nose wheel steering available after gravity extension?
No
Normal braking uses which hydraulic system?
The green hydraulic system
The alternate braking system uses which hydraulic system?
Yellow hydraulic system
Is antiskid available during alternate breaking?
Yes, through the yellow hydraulic system, unless both BSCU fail.
What if both green and yellow hydraulic system fail? Is breaking still available?
Yes, through the yellow to brake accumulator
How many break applications does the yellow brake accumulator allow?
7 full applications
What is the maximum N1 that may be applied when the park brake is on?
75% N1
What is the maximum brake temperature for takeoff?
300°C
On takeoff, above what speed do the spoilers deploy, if an aborted takeoff is performed?
72kts
How can the autobrake be disengage?
- Applying pressure to each break
- pressing the MAX AUTO BRK pb
- Retracting the ground spoilers
