Autoflight Flashcards
How many FMA modes are there?
What are they?
- 5
- Auto thrust modes
- Vertical flight guidance modes
- Lateral flight guidance mode
- Approach capabilities and DH/MDA
- A/P, F/D, A/THR Status modes
Do the F/D need to be engaged to use A/THR?
Yes
At what bank angle and pitch attitudes does the flight director disappear?
- 45° bank angle
- 25° nose up, 13° nose down
If one FMGC fails what happens?
No automatic switching of FMGCs. A/P does not automatically switch
What Limitation is there with regards to engaging A/P?
- 5 seconds after take off
- above 100ft AGL
What happens to A/THR when both FMGCs fail?
A/THR is inoperative
How long does the heading knob remain in the FCU window when selected? What are the exceptions?
- 45 seconds
- when heading is selected prior to takeoff
- When heading is selected during approaching and go around modes
What speed is targeted when the EXPED pb on the FCU is pushed during a climb?
Green dot
What speed is targeted when the EXPED pb is pushed during the descent?
340kts / .80M
Does the autopilot maintain constraints when the EXPED pb is pushed?
No, all limits including the 250 kn speed limit below and 10,000 feet is ignored.
How can the EXPED Mosby disengage? Can you press the EXPED pb?
- No, pushing the EXPED pb has no effect
- Another vertical mode must be engaged
- Pulling/pushing ALT / V/S knobs
- Pulling the speed knob
What’s danger is there if V/S is used during the climb?
- auto pilot maintains specific V/S
- It ignores the speed
- Speed may reduce to critical values
If the MORE DRAG message appears on the PFD during managed descent what must the pilot do?
Extend the speed brakes to at least half
What speed is targeted on takeoff by the SRS?
What speed is targeted by the SRS when an engine fails on takeoff?
- V2 + 10kts
- V2
What are the auto land wind limitations?
- Tailwind 10kts
- Crosswind 20kts
- Headwind 30kts
