Landing Gear Flashcards
During preflight, a gear uplock is closed. What do you do?
- Pin the gear door valve OPEN
- Turn on ext battery (Left Front access panel)
- Actuate AUX pump (Right Front access panel) until the gear door and uplocks open
- Remove gear door pin
- Actuate AUX pump until gear door closes
- Turn off ext battery switch
If the landing gear fails to extend, what action may reset the extension mode of operation?
a. Verify the Emergency Landing Gear handle is fully down
b. Pressing the DUMP valve switch to provide an alternate electrical path for the gear extension control circuit
If the landing gear fails to retract, what action must be performed to prevent landing with 400 lb of applied brake pressure (wheel despin brakes)?
Press and hold the DUMP valve for 3 sec
Which “Down and Locked Indication” has precedence over the other?
1. Landing Gear Control Panel
2. Landing Gear Indication on the Flight Control Synoptic
- Landing Gear Control Panel

What does an illuminated RED GEAR HANDLE light mean during gear retraction?
Landing Gear and/or Doors are NOT retracted (up and locked)
What does an illuminated RED GEAR HANDLE light mean during gear extension?
Landing Gear is not down and locked (does not consider door)
When will the Landing Gear Warning Horn sound?
- Anytime flaps are selected > 22° (NOT mutable)
- Aircraft altitude < 345’ and either power lever positioned to IDLE with flaps < 22° (mutable)
Why put the gear handle in the down position with the alternate gear extension procedure?
