Describe the western cordillera
Lightly Populated, travel is difficult, lots of minerals, timber, and source of hydroelectricity. ROCKY MOUNTAINS
Describe the Appalachian Region
Appalachian Mountains - Long ocean bays provide deep harbors and coal, iron, and zinc oldest mountain range
Describe the Innuitian High mountains
too high mountains for plants to grow and are largely unexplored due to the hostile climate.
What are the 3 lowlands?
Arctic lowland - Hudson Bay Lowland - Great Lakes/ St Lawrence lowlands

Describe Artic Lowlands
cold and frozen and summer is short,
- dark all day in winter and light all day in summer.
- Mostly permafrost so construction is difficult and farming is impossible.
Describe the Hudson Bay Lowlands
Hudson Bay lowlands are popular for oil and natural gas. - Wetland and polar bears.
Describe the Great lakes & St. Lawrence lowlands
Great Lakes and St. Lawrence lowlands flat plains with deep river valleys.
- 50% of Canada’s population and 70% of Canada’s manufacturing companies are here.
- good for farming
- great soil and a warm climate.
Describe the interior plains
Interior Plains are very flat with fertile soil and
- cold in winter and hot in summer.
- Farming wheat and cattle.
- Known as Canada breadbasket.
- Rock has rich minerals, coal, oil, and gas deposits.
Describe the Canadian Shield
mostly flat with rounded hills and small lakes.
-Not great for farming the soil is too thin,
-Minerals such as lead, gold, nickel, zinc, and copper.
-Ideal for recreation due to its waterfalls, lakes, and forests.
