What are the four ladder markings?
- Tip markings

How many rungs should be marked for the tip markings and what is it used for?
2, to identify who the ladder belongs to and visually identify the ladder from the roof top
What are the Rung markings used for?
To identify the middle point to avoid having to count rungs, allows quick execution of the different carries
Where do you mark the balance point?
Both the bed and fly section, you will also know the dogs are locked when they are aligned.
What tool do you use to find the balance point?
A roof hook or pike pool.
What marking is on the heels/butts of the ladder?
The size of the ladder
What 3 ladders are on every truck in the department?
10’, 14’, 24’
What open halyard configuration?
When fly section is bedded and halyard is tied. Not able to use the fly section or the halyard.
Open=Tied, not able to use fly
What is closed halyard configuration?
When halyard is not tied and you can go straight into raising the fly section.
Closed-not tied, able to use fly
