Q

How do you collect a voided urine sample?

A

Collect the urine as the patient urinates naturally. It should be collected midstream. For dogs, take them on a walk and collect the urine in a cup. For cats, leave them an empty litter box and when they urinate in it simply transfer it to a cup.

Q

Explain how to use a centrifuge

A

Insert test tubes so that they are open towards the axis or center of the centrifuge head. The weight within the centrifuge should be balanced on all sides. If only one tube is being tested, counterbalance with another tube of equal weight. Always close and latch the lid before turning it on.
