Lab Practical #1 Flashcards
trapezius action
elevates, retracts and depresses scapula
trapezius attachments
nuchal ligament, lateral side of scapula and spinous processes to T12
trapezius innervation
spinal accessory nerve (CN XI)
Latissimus dorsi actions
adduction, internal (medial) rotation, extension
Latissimus dorsi attachments
levels T6-S5 and bicipital groove of humerus
Latissimus dorsi innervation
thoracodorsal nerve
Latissimus dorsi blood supply
thoracodorsal artery
Rhomboid major & minor actions
retract scapula
Rhomboid major & minor innervation
dorsal scapular nerve
erector spinae (superficial) innervation
all innervated by dorsal primary rami
Serratus anterior innervation
long thoracic nerve (injury to this causes winging of scapula)
Serratus anterior blood supply
lateral thoracic artery
deltoid actions
abducts arm from 15-90 degrees for middle portion
deltoid innervation
axillary nerve
deltoid blood supply
posterior circumflex humeral artery
Supraspinatus
found on posterior superior part of scapula, above spine (supraspinous fossa) and inserts onto greater tubercle of humerus
Supraspinatus actions
abducts the arm for first 15 degrees
Supraspinatus innervation
suprascapular nerve
Supraspinatus blood supply
suprascapular artery
