Insertion: Intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Action: Extends, medially rotates, and adducts arm
Deltoid
Origin: Lateral third of clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula
Insertion: Deltoid tuberosity of humerus
Action: Acting as a whole, prime mover of arm abduction
Coracobrachialis
Origin: Coracoid process of the scapula
Insertion: Medial surface and border of the body of the humerus
Action: Flexion, adduction of arm at shoulder joint, assist in retaining the head of the humerus in contact with glenoid cavity
Triceps Brachii
Origin: Long head- inferior margin of glenoid cavity, lateral head- posterior humerus, Medial head- distal radial groove on posterior humerus
Insertion: Olecranon of ulna
Action: Powerful forearm extensor
Aconeus
Origin: Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: Lateral aspect of olecranon of ulna
Action: Abducts ulna during forearm pronation
Biceps Brachii
Origin: Short head- coracoid process, long head-supraglenoid tubercle and lip of glenoid cavity
Insertion: Radial tuberosity
Action: Flexion (powerful) and supination of forearm
Brachialis
Origin: Distal portion of anterior humerus
Insertion: Coronoid process of ulna
Action: flexor of forearm
Brachioradialis
Origin: Lateral ridge at distal end of humerus
Insertion: Base of radial styloid process
Action: Synergist in forearm flexion
Pronator Teres
Origin: Medial epicondyle of humerus and coronoid process of ulna
Insertion: Midshaft of radius
Action: Pronate forearm
Pronator Quadratus
Origin: Distal portion of anterior ulnar surface
Insertion: Anterior surface of radius, distal end
Action: Pronates forearm
Supinator
Origin: Lateral epicondyle of humerus, proximal ulna
Insertion: Proximal end of radius
Action: Synergist of biceps brachii to supinate forearm
Flexor Carpi radialis
Origin: Medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: Base of metacarpal 2 and 3
Action: Powerful flexor and abductor of hand

Origin: Medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: Palmar aponeurosis, skin and fascia of palm
Action: tenses skin and fascia of palm

Origin: Medial epicondyle of humerus and olecranon and posterior surface of ulna
Insertion: Base of metacarpal 5, pisiform and hamate bones
Action: Flexes and adducts hands
Flexor digitorum superficialis
Origin: Medial epicondyle of humerus, coronoid process of ulna, and shaft of radius
Insertion: Middle phalanges of fingers 2-5
Action: Flexes hand and middle phalanges of fingers 2-5
Flexor digitorum profundus
Origin: Anteriomedial surface of ulna, interosseous membrane and coronoid process
Insertion: Distal phalanges of fingers 2-5
Action: flexes distal phalanges
Extensor Carpi radialis brevis
Origin: Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: Base of metacarpal 3
Action: Extends and abducts hand, steadies wrist during finger flexion
Extensor digitorum
Origin: Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: by 4 tendons into distal phalanges of fingers 2-5
Action: Prime mover of finger extension, extends hand and can flare fingers
Extensor carpi radialis longus
Origin: lateral supercondylar ridge of humerus
Insertion: Base of metacarpal 2
Action: Extends and abducts hand
Extensor carpi Ulnaris
Origin: Lateral epicondyle of humerus, posterior border of the ulna
Insertion: Base of metacarpal V
Action: Extends and adducts hand
Flexor pollicis Longus
Origin: Anterior surface of radius, interosseous membrane

Action: Flexes thumb
Extensor pollicis longus and berevis
Origin: Dorsal shaft of ulna and radius; interosseous membrane
Insertion: Base of distal phalanx of thumb (longus) and proximal phalanx of thumb (brevis)
Action: Extend thumb
Abductor pollicis longus
Origin: Posterior surface of radius and ulna, interosseous membrane
Insertion: Metacarpal 1 and trapezium
Action: Abducts and extends thumb
Thenar
Origin: Tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium
Insertion: Within the carpals and metacarpals of hand
Action: produce movement of thumb
