Lab 5 Flashcards
Where does the lumbosacral trunk come from?
L4-L5
What does the lumbosacral trunk connect?
Lumbar plexus with the sacral plexus
-It descend the pelvis to join the 1st sacral nerve
Where does the Lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh (Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve) come from?
L2-L3 (Lumbar plexus)
What does the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve innervate?
Skin over lateral and anterior thigh and lateral part of the thigh
Where does the Obturator nerve come from?
L2, L3, L4
Where does the Accessory Obturator come from?
L3, L4
Where does the Femoral nerve come from?
L2, L3, L4
Where does the genitofemoral nerve come from?
L1, L2
Where does the iliohypogastric nerve come from?
L1
Where does the ilioinguinal nerve come from?
L1
What does the ilioinguinal nerve innervate?
- Skin and upper medial part of thigh
- Skin over the root of the penis and upper part of the scrotum (male)
- Skin covering mons pubis and labium majus (female)
Where does the ilioinguinal nerve run?
Above spermatic fascia/spermatic cord (NOT within cord)
Where does the genital branch of the genito-femoral nerve run?
Within the spermatic cord/fascia.
It runs alongside the Ductus (vas) deferens
What does the iliohypogastric nerve innervate?
- Skin over lateral gluteal region and above pubis
- Internal and transverse abdominal muscles
Where does the subcostal nerve run? Where does it originate?
Runs along the lower boarder of 12th rib.
T12
What does the subcostal nerve innervate?
Sensory innervation to the skin over the hip
Where does the femoral branch of the genitofemoral nerve pass? What does it supply?
It passes beneath the inguinal ligament within the femoral sheath.
Supplies: skin over the femoral triangle
Where does the genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve pass? What does it supply?
Runs to the deep inguinal ring and traverses inguinal canal to supply the cremaster muscle
What is the cremasteric reflex?
Elevates testicles in response to light stroking of the inner thigh or cold temperatures applied to the scrotum. The sensory limb is carried in the femoral branch; the motor limb is carried in the genital branch.
What does the Obturator nerve innervate?
Medial compartment of the thigh
What does the femoral nerve innervate?
Anterior compartment of the thigh. Supplies skin of upper thigh and inner leg. Supplies muscles that extend the knee.
