- excessive vaginal discharge
- vaginal pH >4.5
- a fishy odour in the KOH test
- presence of clue cells in DS

in most cases, BV has minimal complications. However, there are some serious risks from BV

- increases women’s susceptibility to HIV infection if exposed
- increases chances of HIV-infected women to pass to her partner
- increases chances of developing PID following hysterectomy or abortion
- increases risk for some complications of pregnancy such as preterm delivery
- increased susceptibility to other STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoeae
