Lab 1 Exam Flashcards
Case study
Descriptive. The study only involves one or two cases to document a unique outcome
Cross sectional
Descriptive. Data is being collected from a subset of the population at one specific point in time
Longitudinal
Descriptive. The variable being studied is measured at the start of the study and then again after a period of time
Retrospective
Descriptive. The study is looking at events/ factors that have already taken place
Randomized control trial
Experimental. Subjects are randomly assigned to either an experimental or control group
Time series
Experimental. A measurement is taken on all subjects before a manipulation and then measured multiple times after the manipulation
Pre/post
Experimental. A measurement is taken on all subjects before a manipulation and then measured one time after the manipulation
Cross over
Experimental. Subjects are divided into different groups with each group receiving all treatments but in a different order with a washout period between treatments
Chi square
Compares the goodness of dir between observed and expected distributions
Dependent t test
The subject are being tested twice and you want to compare the means from the two different time points
Independent t test
Comparing the means of two groups that are independent of one another
One way ANOVA
Comparing the means of different groups
repeated measures ANOVA
Collecting multiple data from the same subject or multiple treatments
Alpha receptors
In intestinal blood vessels. Release epinephrine to constrict blood vessels
Beta receptors
In skeletal muscle blood vessels. Release epinephrine to dilate blood vessels
