L6 - AO3 of WMM Flashcards

1
Q

General AO3:

A

+ practical applications - improved understanding of how people learn to read, so helps with understanding those with dyslexia
- idea of central executive is vague. Damasio, had cerebral tumour removed, but good reasoning skills (cognitive tasks’ so suggests central executive intact, however couldn’t make decisions so suggests it was damaged. Therefore if anyt, shows central executive is more complicate due than WMM claims

A

+ shallice + Warrington case of KF, poor STM cause of motorbike accident, poor stm for words presented verbally not visually. Sugges5s more than one type of STM which WMM suggests. Also shows a type of STM for verbal tasks (phonological loop) and visual (visuo spatial sketchpad)

A

+ Baddeley + hitched gave participants dual task. Asked to complete reasoning task (central executive) while also reading aloud task (phonological loop). They could do both Same time well, so supports idea of separate components in STM
