L19 Flashcards
1
Q
Features of nerve-nerve synapse
A
-Many tiny synapses on post-synaptic cell
-AP in an individual neuron rarely brings partner to threshold
-Can be both excitatory (EPSP’s) and inhibitory (IPSP’s) and many neurotransmitters used
2
Q
Features of Nerve-Skeletal Muscle synapses
A
-Large synapses where each muscle fibre receives input from only one neuron.
-AP in neuron likely to reach muscle fibre threshold
-Only excitatory inputs (ACh)
