Q
What is the shoulder complex made of?
A
- pectoral girdle
- manubrium of sternum
- clavicles
- scapulae
- humerus
2
Q
What movements occurs at the shoulder complex?
A
- flexion and extension - sagittal plane
- adduction/abduction - coronal plane
- medial rotation/lateral roation - transverse plane
- circumduction (think monkey bars)
3
Q
What joints exist in the shoulder complex
A
- 3 x true bi-articular (synovial) joints
- sternoclavicular
- acromioclavicular
- glenohumeral
- 2 x physiological (functional) joints (don’t have joint capsule)
- subdeltoid
- scapulothoracic
- ligaments for joint stability
- muscles
4
Q
sternoclavicular joint
A
- connects upper limb to thorax
- saddle joint - elevate/depress; pro- and retract scapula
- articular disc
- dislocation uncommon
- blood supply: internal thoracic, suprascapular
- nerve supply: n. to subclavius
5
