L14 Imaging UL Flashcards
1
Q
shoulder joint projections
A
- AP
- lateral
- internal and external rotation
- axillary lateral
- AP with cranio-caudal downtilt
2
Q
What kind of joint is the elbow joint and what kind of X-Ray projections would you use?
A
- hinge type of synovial joint
- 3 main views
- AP
- lateral
- AP oblique
3
Q
order of elbow epiphyses
A
- C: capitulum - 1st year
- R: radius - 5th year
- I: medial (INTERNAL) epicondyle - 10th year and onwards
- T: trochlear
- O: olecranon
- E: lateral (EXTERNAL) epicondyle
4
Q
Salter-Harris fracture
A
A Salter–Harris fracture or growth plate fracture is afracture that involves the epiphyseal plate or growth plate of a bone. It is thus a form of child bone fracture. It is a common injury found in children, occurring in 15% of childhood long bone fractures.
5
Q
Types of Salter-Harris fractures
A
6
Q
circular structures in the shoulder joint
A
- layer 1: labrum - deepens socket
- layer 2: capsule w/ ligamentous thickenings
- layer 3: tendons of rotator cuff
- layer 4: bones - coracoid, acromium, coraco-acromial arch
7
Q
MRI signal intensities with differences in musculoskeletal imaging T2 images
A
T1 and T2 usually
- cortical bone: dark
- fluid: dark for T1 and bright for T2
- muscle: intermediate
- fat: bright
- spinal cord: intermediate
in musculoskeletal imaging T2 weighted images use fat-suppresion
∴ fat and bone marrow: dark
