Q

Salter-Harris fracture

A

A Salter–Harris fracture or growth plate fracture is afracture that involves the epiphyseal plate or growth plate of a bone. It is thus a form of child bone fracture. It is a common injury found in children, occurring in 15% of childhood long bone fractures.

Q

circular structures in the shoulder joint

A
  • layer 1: labrum - deepens socket
  • layer 2: capsule w/ ligamentous thickenings
  • layer 3: tendons of rotator cuff
  • layer 4: bones - coracoid, acromium, coraco-acromial arch

Q

MRI signal intensities with differences in musculoskeletal imaging T2 images

A

T1 and T2 usually

  • cortical bone: dark
  • fluid: dark for T1 and bright for T2
  • muscle: intermediate
  • fat: bright
  • spinal cord: intermediate

in musculoskeletal imaging T2 weighted images use fat-suppresion

∴ fat and bone marrow: dark
